This is a rare inherited disorder characterized by hypertension, hypokalemia, alkalosis and negligible aldosterone secretion. The underlying pathology is a tendency of the distal tubules or collecting ducts to conserve sodium and excrete potassium despite almost total absence of aldosterone. Patients may be treated with triamterene 100 mg PO QD to increase serum potassium.
