CRITERIA FOR ACUTE DIALYSIS

Absolute Indications

     Uremic Pericarditis

     Symptomatic Hyperkalemia Refractory to Kayexalate Therapy

     Symptomatic Fluid Retention (Pulmonary Edema) Refractory to Diuretic Therapy

     Severe Metabolic Acidosis Refractory to Sodium Bicarbonate Therapy (especially if symptomatic)

Relative Indications

     Symptomatic Uremia (encephalopathy, gastrointestinal mucosal hemorrhaging, etc.)

     Dialyzable Toxins
